General

When will Polson Park open?

We are hoping to have our first season in the summer of 2026 (pending a successful planning permission application).

What are the opening hours of Polson Park?

These are still to be confirmed, but we would like Polson Park to be open all year around during daylight hours initially.  Access to the lakes may be restricted at certain times of the year due to the weather.

Will there be disabled access?

Yes. We want to make Polson Park accessible to all, so we will do our best to provide disabled access throughout the site.   Due to the topography of the site, this may not be possible in all areas.

Will there be public transport to Polson Park?

We hope so! We have included a bus stop as part of our designs and will apply for local bus services to stop at the site as part of their existing routes.

Will there be a charge to visit Polson Park?

No. Polson Park will be accessible to all, so there will not be a charge for general access.  Certain activities, including the aqua park, open water swimming, paddle boarding and use of the wakeboarding cable will be charged.

Will there be a charge for parking?

No. We are keen to keep Polson Park accessible, especially for locals.

Will there be electric car chargers?

Yes.  We are hopeful that Polson Park will have multiple high-speed electric vehicle chargers.

Will there be cycle parking at Polson Park?

Yes. We are extremely keen to support cycling to Polson Park.

Will dogs be allowed?

Yes. As dog owners, we are very keen to allow well behaved dogs access to Polson Park.  Due to wildlife, these will have to be kept on leads and will not be allowed in the lakes.

Will Polson Park use renewable energy?

Yes. We are keen to use solar panels to offset the electrical consumption of Polson Park.  These will hopefully be located on the barns at Polson Farm.

Will Polson Park offer Military and Blue Light Discount?

Yes. Although exact discounts are to be confirmed, we want Polson Park to honour and support those individuals that dedicate themselves to supporting others.

Will there be toilets and changing facilities?

Yes, there will be plenty of toilets and changing facilities to support the water based activities on the site.

Will Polson Park hold community events?

Yes. We are extremely for Polson Park to host a variety of community events.  Our dedicated green spaces will be the perfect venue for these events.

Construction

Will Polson Park be environmentally sustainable?

Yes, the Park’s designs aim to increase the biodiversity of the existing site and we will work hard to offset any carbon emissions produced during construction.

Will construction impact the local villages?

We hope not. Our construction plan aims to keep all excavated soil on site, so machinery and mud won’t be all over the road. There is a small amount of roadworks to be done at the site entrance on the A388 just outside Polson Farm, but this should be for a short time.

Activities

Will there be a shop/cafe/restaurant?

Yes. We are hoping to provide the Polson Farm Café, so visitors can enjoy coffee and cake whilst savouring the wonderful views over the countryside and lakes.

Will I have to pay for the activities?

The aqua park, open water swimming, paddle boarding and wake boarding will attract a charge. Access to the park, car parking, the walks and the play areas will be free.

Will there be loud music?

No. We are very conscious that this is a unique countryside location and loud music will not be allowed.

Will there be speed boats?

No. All activity on the lakes will be person powered! The only exception to this will be the wakeboard cable, which will be powered by an almost silent electric motor.

Will open water swimming be allowed?

Yes. We are hoping to run an open water swimming club for members.

Will there be a beach on the lakes?

It is unlikely that we will provide a beach for public access swimming/paddling.  Use of the lakes will be limited to official activities including the aqua park, open water swimming, paddle boarding and use of the wakeboard cable.

How old do you have to be to use the aqua park?

We will have a children only aqua park in addition to the main aqua park. Children aged 4 plus (with a height between 1.00 m / 39’ and 1.50 m / 59’) will be able to enjoy the children’s aqua park. Older children and adults of any age can use the main park!

Can anyone wakeboard?

Yes, anyone of any skill level over the age of 10 can wakeboard. Coaching will be available for beginners or experts!

Will camping be available?

There will be no camping or accommodation on the site. There are lots of local and brilliant accommodation providers in the area though so please use those.

Will there be a bar?

The cafe won’t service alcohol as the activities and alcohol don’t mix! We aspire to open a restaurant in the future which may include applying for an alcohol license.

Will there be a collaborative workspace?

Yes. At Polson Park we are hoping to provide a collaborative workspace including dedicated desks, private studios, and conference rooms.

Can I swim in the River Tamar?

No. Swimming will not be permitted in the River Tamar, but the opening of Polson Park will enable the public to view a stretch of the river that has previously been private.

Will Polson Park have Life Guards?

Most definitely Yes.  All activities on the lakes will be correctly supervised by fully licenced life guards.
